How Jacque-lendar works
Jacque is our neighbourhood red-merle Aussie 🐾. This little site lets neighbours share the walking — no group chats, no spreadsheets. Here's everything you can do.
1. Create an account
Sign up with your email and pick a display name. We'll email you a verification link — click it once and you're in. Forgotten your password later? Use “Reset password” on the login page any time.
2. Browse the schedule
The schedule lists every upcoming walk, grouped by day and shown in your local time. Open slots are marked Open; ones already claimed show who's walking.
3. Claim a walk — or release it
See a time that suits you? Hit Claim and it's yours — you'll get a confirmation email.
Plans changed? Release it and the walk goes straight back on the board for someone else (and anyone who's waiting on it gets a heads-up).
4. Walk together — ask to join
Want to tag along on a walk someone else has already claimed? Hit Ask to join. The walker gets an email and can approve or decline. If they approve, you're both listed as walkers and you can add it to your calendar.
5. Get notified if a slot frees up
If a walk you wanted is taken, tap Notify me if free. If the walker later releases it, we'll email you so you can grab it. Stop watching whenever you like.
6. Add walks to your calendar
Any walk you're on has an Add to calendar button that downloads a
standard .ics file — open it to drop the walk into Google, Apple, or Outlook
calendar at the correct local time.
7. Automatic reminders
No need to keep checking — we'll email you a reminder the evening before your walk, and again a few hours ahead. Approved co-walkers get the reminders too.
8. Your account page
“My walks” gathers everything you're involved in — walks you've booked, ones you've asked to join, and ones you're watching — in one place. From there you can also update your password or email address.
Who adds the walks?
An administrator (Jacque's family) posts the available slots. Everyone else just claims, joins, and walks. 🐾
